Science Experiment of the Day: So it turns out red gummi bears and potassium chlorate don’t really care for each other.

Molten potassium chlorate is a strong oxidizing agent that reacts violently with sugar. Gummy bears have lots of sugar in them.

Phew! Thank God I found this out before inviting everyone to my Make Your Own Gummi Potassium Chloratini Night. That would not have ended well.
